Brit "It" Couple Part Over Lesbian Smooch

brit_lesbian_smoochNo, it's not David Beckham and Posh Spice... Singer Charlotte Church and rugby union star Gavin Henson reportedly broke up after Church, a known party girl, hit the booze on a night out in London and ended up locking lips with a female club goer, then passing out in the bar. Henson has now flown to Spain for a holiday with his male mates and Church was spotted shopping with her mother in Cardiff, Wales. The couple, together five years, with two children, only made it two months into their marriage.

Elvis' Granddaughter to Play Lesbian Werewolf

elvis_granndaughter_werewolfJack and Diane, two teenage girls, meet in New York City and spend the night kissing ferociously. Diane's charming innocence quickly begins to open Jack's tough skinned heart. But, when Jack discovers that Diane is leaving the country in a week she tries to push her away. Diane must struggle to keep their love alive while hiding the secret that her newly awakened sexual desire is giving her werewolf-like visions...So goes the synopsis of a film which is yet to commence production, and was to star Ellen Page or Alison Pill, and now pairs model and Elvis's granddaughter Riley Keough and Juno Temple. Younger and more obscure? Just make the movie already!

Bodice-Ripping Lesbian Drama

bodice_ripperBritain's first modern lesbian has her own TV show. Anne Lister, 1791-1840, was a Yorkshire landowner, industrialist, traveler and diarist. Thanks to the diaries (totaling more than 4 million words) we know she was also a sexually-driven lesbian who had affairs with many women and lived as an out and proud dyke, in spite of hostility from those around her. She's now been brought to life by Brit actress Maxine Peake in the BBC series, The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister. So how about those love scenes? "I found them absolutely fine – in fact, girls are slightly cleaner than boys in a strange way aren't they?... we just went for it."

Roxy and Gia: Straight Meets Gay

320200913249419GIA:  The colour wasn’t right. The style wasn’t me. The size didn’t fit. The date didn’t work with my agenda.  Although I appreciated the thought, Roxy was very similar to what I imagined a male was like. She never quite hit the spot, but the effort was worth loving.  Raising the bar made it impossible to reach.  I on the other hand, worked to exceed my own expectations. My observation was razor sharp and I spent months preparing. It was a recipe for disaster.

ROXY: It was never enough. She was used to the royal treatment of another kind, and even then, she was never satisfied. We fought before we walked through the door, of our intimate dinner celebration. The only thing that broke the silence was Gia’s call to her sister saying, “this is the worst birthday ever” and then my surprise Hummer limo drove up. I was disgusted, hurt and torn to pieces.

Courtney's Lesbian Love Saga

courtney_loveAt first we thought it was icky and then we found out it was when she was still hot that she had a fling with Kate Moss, the cool, coke-snorting bi model. Well, if it wasn't bad enough that Courtney outed Kate it now appears she's offended her alleged boyfriend, Andre Balazs. He did not approve of the kiss and tell habits, amongst others, of Love. "It was Kate Moss. She doesn't care," said Love of the confession. "It's a great story for the grandchildren, so yeah. It was just a thing that happened in Milan in the Nineties,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

Lesbian Pot Farmer For Weeds

Linda_HamiltonLinda Hamilton of Terminator fame is slated to play a lesbian marijuana grower in an upcoming episode of hit TV series, Weeds. And better still, she won't be using any pesky pesticides: her dope is organic. Hamilton, who played Sarah Connor in the action/sci-fi flick opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger was once married to 'king of the world' James Cameron, and later admitted to suffering from bi polar disorder. She has been plagued by lesbian rumors since high school, apparently because she didn't "put out" but whether she's gay, bi or not doesn't really matter: we're just glad she's putting out for this role.

America Supports Gays

America_supports_gaysGallup recently released a new poll that reveals Americans are becoming more accepting of  homosexuality. Previous years had the moral acceptance of gayness below the 50 per cent mark and this has now been overturned. This year's survey results mark a record-high of the public viewing gay and lesbian relationships as morally acceptable. Support for legalizing gay marriage is also nearing a record high. Now when will politicians fall into step with public opinion?

Real Life L Word Counts Down

Real_life_L_WordWith the tagline "Hotter than housewives, Cool as L," The Real L Word is set to air on June 20th, exclusive to Showtime. The reality series is a spin-off of the hit TV show The L Word, which saw a group of unlikely lady-loving ladies cavorting with each other in Los Angeles. If those impossibly gorgeous women were a tease because, like, only a couple of the actresses were actually gay or bi in real life, this series should be a hit for one reason alone: it's for real. A whole new series of bitchin' eye candy for real! We can't wait.

Roxy and Gia: Straight Meets Gay

320200913249419Roxy: New Years was spent fighting for equality in my relationship. Something I wanted, I just didn’t know how to get it. The more I fought, the more my responsibilities hung in neon lights. We were losing grip.

Gia:  The last thing I expected was to be spending the first moments of my new beginning with an explosive ending. The explosion was so big, it took days to recover. Both of us were in a daze. Although it was emotionally murderous, we couldn’t walk away. With love, you have no control over your emotions or actions. It makes you do the craziest things.

Roxy: Gia and I had a “bus, train and taxi” adventure just to make our New Year’s destination. In the end, I walked home to start the New Year in peace but that was far from what I got and what I gave.

Stay tuned for more next week from the girls at roxylee.com.

Ellen Page To Play Lesbian

moxie_ellenEllen Page, the cute, quirky, tomboyish actress known for "from the mouths of babes" sarcasm is to star in a lesbian movie, according to Cinema Blend. Oscar-winning documentary, Freeheld, about a lesbian couple fighting for one partner's pension benefits after she was diagnosed with fatal lung cancer, is to be made into a feature film written by Philadelphia screen writer Ron Nyswaner. Ellen Page will play Stacie Andree, a New Jersey car mechanic who fought to receive pension benefits from her police offer partner Laurel Hester after death. Page, who found fame playing a pregnant teenager in Juno, has played tough girls in Hard Candy and Whip It, delighting her many lesbian fans. Freeheld will continue to raise the question: is she or isn't she? But with a theme this important, does it matter?

Who Lindsay Did Next

Lindsay_date-1Many young lesbians were hopeful that Lindsay Lohan had jumped the fence for good, based on her Samantha Ronson dating saga but our hopes were low, given LiLo's long list of male suitors...but it appears there is now hope that the actress may identify as queer. According to FoxNews Lohan is dating 36-year-old photographer Indrani after working with her on a photo shoot late last year. Sources claim Lohan and Indrani, also known as Julia I. Pal-Chaudhuri, have been on a series of dates in LA and recently spent the night at Lohan's hotel. Indrani herself told New York Post, "We have been spending a lot of time together. I have never had a relationship with a woman before, but Lindsay is just somebody who I find fascinating, gorgeous and extremely smart, as well as super-hot." Well, there you have it. Bi for now.

Beast Tries To Out Edie Falco

moxie_Edie_FalcoWell, we've been spoiled by Jane Lynch. It seems the press desperately wants another funny, blond, middle-aged TV star to come out of the closet. Or so it seemed when Falco (Carmela from The Sopranos, Nurse Jackie) was interviewed by The Daily Beast and quizzed about her marital status. Kevin Sessums went as far as noting that Falco plays Jackie "a bit butch" and that she has a large "lesbian fanbase." Falco responde, "It's thrilling. Maybe it's because my character on Nurse Jackie doesn't take a lot of s**t. Not that that means that's a lesbian thing." But then The Beast asked the question we possibly would like the answer to. "Have you ever buttered that side of your toast?" "I beg your pardon!" said Falco. "I am so not going there. Wow. I've never heard it put that way either. But no. I'm afraid I like boys." Damn shame.

Roxy and Gia: Straight Meets Gay

320200913249419Gia:  The argument that followed that evening will go down as the biggest one in history. With two fiery women living in the same house and jealousies running rampant, run for cover and grab your armour! What was meant to be a celebration of new beginnings, we were screaming our very 1st ending.

Roxy: I was at my wits end of loving her. I found it impossible to carry superwoman powers any longer. And when she had the nerve to call her ex when the clock struck midnight, that was it! My ex was under tight regulations to meet security control Gia, so I wanted fair.

Gia:  Ever since I was young I have always loved New Years.  It is my favourite celebration. I am easily swept up into the thought of new beginnings. I feel as if it gives me a chance to make a fresh start in my life. So naturally, I like to have plans on the night. I can’t stand the thought of being at home falling asleep before midnight. No matter what the plan includes, I want to be in full swing of ‘thank god it’s a new year!’

What happens next? Stay tuned for more from the ladies at Roxylee.com!

Tranny chic

givenchy_trannieCalvin Klein featured out butch lesbian model Jenny Shimizu in their '90s campaigns. Now we're in the naughties lesbian chic is so passé. Let's all move on to tranny chic. And so we should. And Givenchy is! Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci will feature transgender model Lea T. in his fall-winter ad campaign. Women's Wear Daily has reported that Lea T, formerly known as Leo, is a friend of the designer's and fits the supermodel bill: that is “very feminine: superfragile, very aristocratic.” We'll take the aristocratic. Not sure about the fragile. Anyway, watch out for the Givenchy ad campaign expected to debut in July issue of L’Uomo Vogue. Not American Vogue. Natch.

Big, gay apple

gay_appleIt's about time. We think. Maybe. Just let me finish this martini... New York, the queer epicenter of the entire U.S. (okay, don't be mad at us, San Francisco), affirmed two cases on parental rights for non-biological parents last week. In the first case, the court voted 4-3 to allow a woman to seek child support from her former partner, even though she was not biologically related. In the other case, the court ruled the non-biological parent could seek visitation rights on a child that she helped raise. Lambda Legal told the New York Times this was a "breakthrough" case. Hmmm. Gay marriage means gay divorce. Gay parenting means gay custody battles. Are we up for this, Manhattan?

Conservative America keeps us laughing

gay-champion-posterObama just keeps on going in to bat for lesbians, according to conservative American radio talk show host Jay Weber, on 1130 WISN Podunkville, I mean Milwaukee. He confidently told listeners that  Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan is "a lesbian" and "openly gay." We love that phrase "openly gay." Being closed and gay is kind of difficult. Anyhoo, Weber even said Kagan's sexuality was an “elephant in the room” that was being ignored by mainstream media. He accused the mainstream of playing her nomination down when they should be championing it. Because, after all, Obama has declared himself a champion of Gay Rights. So why this attack on Obama and Kagan for not being openly gay enough? Aha! Gay marriage is bound to come before the courts soon, and Kagan just might sneak that elephant through the back door. Not that the mainstream will notice.

Hot dyke band rocks Harvey Milk

rock_band_harvey_milkRunaways-esque all-girl band Hunter Valentine is soon to rock the hallowed halls of The Hetrick-Martin Institute, home of the Harvey Milk High School. Up-and-coming rockers Hunter Valentine will give a special performance for, and Q&A with, the youth members of the Hetrick-Martin Institute. The openly-gay, female members of Hunter Valentine are role models for young adults who wish to pursue their musical careers while being true to their identities. The Canadian born, Brooklyn-based rock trio are hot, happening, and hard working. Talk about youth role models. Hunter Valentine have just released their U.S. debut album "Lessons From The Late Night" (Tommy Boy). Mounting their Tour de New York, HV will begin early the morning of May 11, head out to play for a tattoo parlor, skate park, the youth at Hetrick-Martin, a university, radio and TV shows, subway stations, retail stores and finally, a live gig at Lower East Side hangout, Cake Shop. Take that, Lady Gaga! And that! And that! Go to huntervalentine.com.

Friday 21 May

Roxy and Gia: Straight Meets Gay

320200913249419Roxy: It was Gia's all time favourite holiday and our first New Year together. I could feel the expectation pressure mounting as we planned our big night without kids. There was so much focus on creating a band bigger than the last that our love kept getting lost in disappointment and heartbreak.

Gia:  We were overlooking the harbour bridge at a friend’s house as the fireworks lit up the Sydney skies celebrating our 1st New Year together when I picked up my phone to call my ex. What on earth was I thinking? It was the worst move I could have made.  Roxy was furious as she stormed out of the party. I spent the next 3 hours walking home while fighting my way through a sea of intoxicated Sydney celebrants.

Roxy: Before we even kicked off the night, I felt like it wasn’t going to reach Gia’s expectations. She had her sights set on the “perfect night”. I was just grateful to have a kid-free-zone-night even it meant staring at the moon for hours. My carefree attitude wasn’t helping. Gia, wanted 200% or don’t bother trying. Part of me loved that she strived for the best in everything but the other part hated that I was failing left, right and centre.
